A man who lost his right eye after being shot at his Glen Eden house has been charged with four firearm offences and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The 30-year-old, who was due to appear in the Waitakere District Court yesterday, is the fourth person to be arrested in connection with Tuesday's shooting incidents which left two men injured.
Detective Senior Sergeant John Sutton said the arrests were the result of some excellent work by the officers involved.
"We needed to act quickly to prevent a real shootout happening on the street, so we're pleased that all the potential dangers to the public were fully contained."
The 30-year-old man was rushed to Auckland City Hospital with facial injuries after being shot in his house. He underwent specialist surgery but lost his right eye because of the extent of his injuries.
Two days before the shooting, the man was subject to an arson attack when a molotov cocktail was thrown through the window of his car.
On the day of the shooting, witnesses saw a white car parked across a driveway. It raced away soon after the shooting.
A short while after the shooting a 35-year-old man arrived at Waitakere Hospital with facial injuries that were also caused by a firearm. He was arrested that night.
The 35-year-old and a 38-year-old man - who face charges of wounding with intent and unlawful assembly - were also due to appear in court yesterday.
A 36-year-old woman, who has been charged with being an accessory after the fact, is due to appear in court on Monday.
Mr Sutton said police have found the white car that was allegedly seen just before the shooting and a .22 calibre rifle. However, a shotgun that is linked to the shootings is yet to be found.
"Our focus now is on finding this weapon," Mr Sutton said.
