Police have charged a 27-year-old Napier woman over the sale of a semi-automatic shotgun to an unlicensed firearms holder.
Police believe the shotgun was the one used in the alleged kidnapping of a 36-year-old Hastings man last Wednesday.
During a struggle in the victim's house it is alleged the shotgun was discharged before the male victim was bound and placed in the rear of his own vehicle and driven into the Kaweka Ranges.
A 38-year-old Hastings woman and an 18-year-old Auckland man were arrested last Thursday and appeared in Hastings District Court.
The two faced charges including aggravated burglary, aggravated wounding, commission of a crime with a firearm, kidnapping and aggravated robbery.
The victim underwent five hours of surgery for a stab wound he received during the kidnapping. He remains in Hawke's Bay Hospital, in a stable condition.
