A member of a family which has made its mark in New Zealand military, aviation and musical ranks has died in a house fire in Paekakariki, north of Wellington.
Peter Ray Kippenberger, 51, was found dead yesterday morning. The Fire Service said there was nothing to suggest the blaze was suspicious.
He was the father of Shihad bass player Karl Kippenberger, great-nephew of war hero Major-General Sir Howard Kippenberger and son of former Civil Aviation Association director Edgar Kippenberger.
