Firefighters are attending a small scrub fire on the side of the motorway in South Auckland this afternoon.
Motorists are being urged to drive carefully on the south-bound lanes of the Southern Motorway, near Redoubt Road.
The Fire Service was called to the spot about 3.30pm following reports of a scrub fire.
A Northern Fire Communications spokeswoman said crews had left the area shortly afterwards, after attending to the blaze, but had been called back about 4.40pm after it flared up again.
One fire truck remains at the scene.
