The New Zealand Fire Service has reportedly lost about $50,000 in an offshore scam.
A report by 3 News suggests the scam involved something being bought from Turkey, and an "urgent investigation" by the Fire Service is currently underway into how it occurred.
Fire Service national commander Paul Baxter told the broadcaster it was taking further advice on the issue and said it was "very disappointing".
The Fire Service said it had lost around $50,000.
The report by 3 News also said MP Peter Dunne, who is in charge of the Fire Service, was briefed last night and was not happy with the findings.
