Fire Service fighting large, spreading scrub fire in Northland

Fire Service crews are fighting a large scrub fire in Pipiwai.

Fire crews are attending a large scrub fire in Northland.

A Fire Service spokesman said the blaze in Pipiwai was "a couple hundred square metres and spreading".

"It's quite a large scrub fire, heading into some pine trees," he said.

Ten Fire Service trucks are on their way to the scene, and the spokesman said it was too dark to use the helicopter to fight the blaze.
