A blaze in the Dunedin suburb of Belleknowes has been brought under control by firefighters.
A Fire Service spokesman said it was called to the fire at a house at Granville Tce at 2.50pm.
The fire was burning in the laundry area of the single-storey house and threatening to spread to the rest of the house when firefighters arrived.
It was brought under control by about 3.30pm and firefighters were now dampening down hot-spots.
Four appliances were called to the fire, which left the home moderately damaged after spreading from the laundry into the roof.
Three occupants of the house were being treated at the scene by St John, one with chest pains, possibly as a result of stress.
The other two were believed to be being treated for smoke inhalation.
Two helicopters and five fire engines are battling the blaze.
