Firefighters are dampening down hotspots after a fire ripped through a Bay of Plenty house this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the McMeeking Rd property, Te Puke, shortly before 3.30pm.
They arrived to find a 180-square metre single-storey house and a car on the property well ablaze.

spokeswoman Megan Ruru said nobody was around at the time.
Four fire trucks were called to the scene and just after 5pm firefighters were still dampening down areas of the property.
