Fire restrictions have been eased for Hawke’s Bay following recent wet weather.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand district manager Glen Varcoe revoked prohibited and restricted fire seasons in some areas until further notice because of the decreased fire danger.
Ahuriri, Heretaunga, Tukituki East and West, the Southern Hawke’s Bay Coast, and Porangahau have moved from prohibited fire seasons to restricted fire seasons.
A restricted fire season means a fire permit is required for most fire types and may also have specific conditions to make sure fires can be safely lit and remain under control.
Meanwhile, Tararua West has moved from restricted to open, meaning fires may be lit in open air without restriction.
