Fire in central Wellington

A central Wellington high rise building was evacuated today after a fire on the 10th floor.

A Fire Service spokesman told NZPA smoke detectors triggered a fire alarm in the Majestic Centre, on the corner of Willis and Boulcott streets, about 12.20pm.

Firefighters found a small fire in a 10th floor storeroom, and used an internal fire hose to extinguish it.

No one was injured.
