Fire safety officers will today investigate the cause of a blaze that swept through at a KFC restaurant in Levin early this morning.
The restaurant, in the town's main street, was well alight when firefighters arrived just after 2am, Fire Service communications shift manager David Meikle said.
Four appliances were needed to fight the fire, which cause substantial damage, he said.
It was too early to say if the fire was suspicious and fire safety officers would investigate the cause today, Mr Meikle said.
