Fire has gutted a classroom at the former Kenmure Intermediate School site in Dunedin this morning.
The fire service was called just before 6am and found the building, off Kaikorai Valley Rd, engulfed in flames and a tower of black smoke billowing hundreds of metres in the air. Six appliances and police attended the call.
Built in 1974, the school was used for that purpose for less than 25 years before being merged with the nearby Kaikorai Valley College.
It was last in the news when a firewood merchant offered the buildings for sale for relocation in 2014.
