Four Housing New Zealand families have been forced from their Stokes Valley homes overnight following a suspicious fire.
A fire spokesperson says they were called to the block of four terrace houses on George Street just before 10 last night, where one of the middle houses was found to be well alight.
It was extinguished, however the building suffered significant damage.
Victim Support was called in to help the affected tenants find alternative accommodation for the night.
Police and Fire investigators are to meet later this morning to assess the situation, with the fire being treated as suspicious.
