A young family woke this morning to a major fire in their Hall Lane, Hamilton home, escaping injury but losing all their possessions.
A 29-year-old mother of two, her brother, and her two sons aged five and two were living together in a rented home that had just been sold.
The children were checked over by medics but were uninjured and left the property for a friend's home shortly after the blaze.
Their mother, Amy Madden, was still at the house when the Herald visited, but was too shocked to speak about what may have caused the fire.
The house was heavily damaged by heat and smoke, with all rooms destroyed.
The house was not fitted with a smoke alarm.
