Two community buildings in Ruakaka, south of Whangarei, were damaged in a break-in and suspected arson attack early this morning.
Whangarei police said the Bream Bay Community Support Trust building was extensively damaged by fire and the Bream Bay Recreation Centre was damaged as a result of the break-in.
A local shop owner called police at 5.30am to report both incidents.
