Firefighters rushed to a building on Quay St in central Auckland tonight after smoke was seen "billowing" into the sky above it.
A woman living in a Parnell apartment building told emergency services that the smoke smelt toxic and was pouring out of an auto parts business.
The blaze was a car fire inside the shop and it was safely extinguished, police said.
