The Fire Service has stood down its search for a light plane, reportedly missing near Auckland's Muriwai Beach.
Police were called about 7.30pm after a plane was believed to be in trouble and seeking somewhere to land.
Ten fire appliances were dispatched to the area and residents reported numerous emergency
vehicles in the area.
However there has been no sign of a plane and the Fire Service now believes it was a false alarm.
