An investigation will begin shortly, after firefighters were called to a suburban building fire at 4am today.
Firefighters arrived in Ferry Rd, Christchurch, to find a 'well-involved building fire" raging this morning, Southern Fire Communications said.
Four appliances, or fire engines, from three different local stations were sent to the fire.
It wasn't immediately clear how the fire started but a fire investigator was expected to visit the property today.
