Fire crews battled a blaze on Mt Wellington this morning.
Smoke could be seen from all around the area.
A northern fire communications spokesman, Murray Dunbar, said two fire engines were at the fire, which burned through about 50sq m of scrub.
The cause of the 10.30am blaze is unknown, but it is thought to be suspicious.
