Fire breaks out on ambulance

A patient being taken by ambulance to Middlemore Hospital had to be transferred to another ambulance after an electrical fire in Manukau yesterday. The vehicle's crew stopped at the intersection of Wiri Station Rd and Druces Rd after smelling smoke.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said the patient's condition was not critical.
