KEY POINTS:
More than eight fire appliances were called to a fire in a building in Petone, Lower Hutt, today.
The Fire Service was called to the building just back from the intersection of Jackson St and Nelson St around 7.42am, Fire Service shift manager Murray Dunbar said.
The building, which was unoccupied and undergoing renovations, was well alight when the Fire Service arrived. It had two levels.
"It is being extinguished now. We are just there overhauling and dampening down," he said.
