Fire investigators are examining the cause of a blaze that broke out in a Hamilton dementia rest home early this morning.
A small fire erupted in a hallway of the Kintala Lodge Rest Homes in Claudelands just after 4am.
Fire and Emergency northern communications shift manager Megan Ruru said the blaze was quickly stopped from spreading throughout the complex.
It was able to be contained in the smoke-logged hallway.
She was unsure if residents in the Stanley St lodge had been evacuated.
