Fire breaks out at Unitec in Auckland

A fire broke out at Unitec in Auckland this evening.

Unitec spokeswoman Liz Phillips said an electrical fire broke out in a ceiling space in a building in the centre of the campus.

The building was part of the "student hub", Ms Phillips said.

"It was more smoke than fire."

Ms Phillips said she saw two fire trucks at the scene.

"The security team tells me it is very much under control."

Fire service confirmed the fire had been put out with extinguishers shortly after they arrived at the scene.
