A fire has broken out at a freezing works operation in Mataura.
Southern district fire communications shift manager Daryl Ball said four fire-fighting appliances were at the scene, and at least 16 fire-fighters.
The blaze had been controlled and fire-fighters were using thermal imaging equipment to check there were no blazes in the walls.
"The fire has been knocked right down," he said.
He understood the freezing works operation was disused and the building was being demolished.
