At least seven fire engines are battling a blaze at a industrial building containing hazardous chemicals.
The fire service was told of the fire, in the Waikato town of Raglan, just after 6.15am, said northern fire communications shift manager Colin Underdown.
The large building, measuring 50m a side and housing a fibre glass yacht and a number of chemicals, was in flames by the time the service arrived.
Two hours later, a hazardous material unit, a command unit and seven appliances were still at the scene trying to get the fire under control.
It was not yet known what effect the burning chemicals would have, Mr Underdown said.
The hazardous material unit was called in as a precautionary measure.
No injuries had been reported and no residential houses were at risk from the flames, Mr Underdown said.
There are some silos nearby that could be affected.
Fire crews were called in from Hamilton and Ngaruawahia.
