Fire at men's prison

Firefighters are at the scene of a blaze at Christchurch Men's Prison at Templeton, 15km west of Christchurch.

Fire Service southern communications centre acting shift manager Lyn Crosson said the alarm was raised at 9.43am and firefighters had just arrived at the scene.

The fire was in a building within the prison complex but was not a cell block, she said.
