Fire at cereal factory of Mayor Dick Hubbard

Nine fire appliances raced to the cereal factory of Auckland Mayor Dick Hubbard today to fight a fire in an oven.

The fire smoke-logged the two-storied factory in Mangere, south Auckland, and two hours after the fire had been put out, six appliances were still dealing with the smoke.

The Fire Service said damage was not extensive but there was a lot of smoke from the burning oven and it took some time to empty it and put the fire out.
