Fire at central Wellington flat

An occupant was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at a central Wellington flat early today.

A Wellington Fire Service spokesman said today the blaze began in the second floor of a Nairn St flat in the suburb of Mt Cook.

The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes and the cause was yet unknown. Investigations were continuing.
