The Auckland War Memorial Museum's fire response was tested today after temporary lighting over-heated and set a sprinkler off.
Museum spokesman Russell Briggs said sprinklers were activated in the events centre upstairs.
He said no artefacts were damaged but the fire service is helping dry out the carpets.
Mr Briggs said there were about 1000 people in the museum at the time - a typical number during the school holidays.
He said everyone was in and out inside 20 minutes.
