There's the odd shower but the weather for the weekend across the country is mostly fine.
Auckland hosts the Pasifika Festival this weekend and apart from some showers expected this afternoon, the Metservice is forecasting the rest of the weekend will be dry with cloudy periods on Saturday and bright sunshine on Sunday.
Taranaki celebrates its Anniversary day this weekend and apart from a shower or two on Sunday it will be cloudy but dry for the long weekend.
Metservice forecaster Bob McDavitt said a front moving up the West Coast of the South Island will hit Nelson on Saturday night and the North Island on Sunday.
Wellington has cloud today and tomorrow and showers on Sunday when the front hits the warm northerly winds.
Christchurch is forecast to get a few showers on Saturday and Sunday while Dunedin "is more at risk", Mr McDavitt said.
"The rain is making its way to Southland and more than likely Dunedin might get some this afternoon. It will be all right on Saturday," Mr McDavitt said.
He said the game tonight between the Chiefs and Highlanders in Dunedin could be a bit damp.
"There's quite a noticeable change of wind with that front. And that will cool things down," Mr McDavitt said.
