Morning cloud and a few showers will greet most of the country this morning, but the rain is expected to clear later this afternoon.
A fine afternoon is good news for holiday-makers travelling back home later in the day and for Aucklanders wanting to enjoy the last day of the Royal Easter Show.
MetService meteorologist Emma Blades said today's weather is pretty similar to yesterday's.
"Temperature-wise it's looking pretty typical for this time of year. Nice and mild. Nothing too hot, nothing too cold. Auckland is looking around the low 20s maximum temperatures this week, Wellington again low 20s and Christchurch again looking around low 20s, so pretty typical temperatures."
Showers are threatening western parts of Northland, which is also the only region likely to escape showers earlier in the day.
