A third man has been dealt with for feeding false information to police investigating the murder of Manawatu farmer Scott Guy.
Andrew Colin George Jacobs, 18, of Hamilton was fined $500 in Hamilton District Court yesterday for obstructing justice.
Mr Guy was gunned down on the driveway of his Aorangi Rd house near Feilding on the morning of July 8 last year.
Police said Jacobs, formerly of Feilding, called an inquiry hotline after an episode of Police Ten 7 appealed for information about the killing, The Manawatu Standard reported.
He told investigators he drove past Mr Guy's house on the morning of the shooting and saw a car parked on a nearby side road.
In November Manawatu prisoner Shaun Francis Whittaker, 34, was further jailed for three months after telling police he could name a friend who confessed to shooting Mr Guy.
He was also ordered to pay $8545 to police for wasting their time.
In December a 16-year-old boy was referred to police youth aid after providing false information.
Mr Guy's brother-in-law Ewen Kerry Macdonald has since been arrested and charged with his murder.
