Wairarapa people who enjoy fine dining will be able to join Wellington folk from Monday to become critics in the second annual Beef and Lamb People's Choice Award.
For six weeks, participating Beef and Lamb Excellence Award restaurants will ask diners to text their score and feedback to find a champion in the Wellington and Wairarapa regions.
Beef and Lamb New Zealand chief executive Rod Slater said yesterday the first competition exceeded expectations.
"We had thousands of votes across the regions last year. The overwhelming support for the competition has us excited about what's to come for 2013," Mr Slater said.
The judging will require diners to answer one simple question on a scale of one to five, and provide their feedback for the restaurant on their beef or lamb meal.
