Winter is still holding on with sharp claws, but the players are keen to get out there and get ready for spring.
Next Sunday the finals of the men's championships in all grades will be played. The seniors semifinal was between Jason Van Zanten and Kirk Collin, with Jason winning on the 18th hole and he will now face Owen Lloyd in the final over 36 holes.
In the men's intermediate grade Jeff Saunders defeated Eru Kaiwai to reach the final.
In the men's junior A grade Eddie Brown had a win over Pat Melaugh, and Ray Weighell won over Rick Makara, so Brown and Weighell will play in the final.
In the men's junior B grade Bob Schofield won over Barry Johnson and Keith Willis beat Takarangi Williams, so this will be a great final between two "old timers" over 36 holes.
Last Sunday was a par round and the winners were Tux Williams +7 , second Darryl Diamond +6 and third Allen King +3.
In the stableford competition from the previous Sunday; Keith Willis 39 points, second Ray Weighell 37 and third Alf Sio 34.
The Featherston Golf Club raffle was draw on Sunday and prizes went to Hoki Awatere, Bob Schofield, Alistair Forrest, Alan Bowman and A. Young.
The club would like to thank the raffle sponsors, Greytown Liquor Plus, Wakelin House Restaurant, Greytown Butchery and Pinehaven Orchards and especially Sharon Harpe, and to all people who helped sell all the tickets.
The Featherston Golf Open 36-Hole Tournament is on October 23 and 24 and all are welcome for this great weekend. The club will be having a working bee on October 30, so we need members to help out for a couple of hours.
