A planned five-day shoot for a television ad has been delayed after all of the costumes were stolen.
Garments for the 30 actors were taken from a blue station wagon parked in the Auckland suburb of Mt Eden overnight. The costumes are an array of Mexican-theme shop uniforms, cocktail dresses and suits.
While the value of the stolen items is $5000, production company The Sweetshop stands to lose some $70,000 for every day the filming is delayed.
Spokesman Tony Whyman doubts the clothes are much use to anyone else, as they include a uniform worn in a shop environment. He is offering a $10,000 reward for their return.
Mr Whyman doubts the garments are of any use to anybody, as says they have been specially designed for and fitted to their talent.
