KEY POINTS:
The alleged victim of a road rage attack has taken the unusual step of spending $5000 on a newspaper advertisement seeking witnesses.
Ivan McLellan, 72, took out the full page ad in The Press asking for anyone who saw an argument between him and another man to come forward.
Mr McLellan claimed that he was "felled" in a tackle by the other man after complaining about the way he parked in Christchurch's Barbadoes Street last Monday.
Police interviewed both men and their wives, and each man said the other had attacked him. Both had been charged with fighting in a public place.
