Emergency services are attending the scene of a car crash involving 11 people in Christchurch, where there are concerns a fight could break out.
The incident between a car and a van happened at 8.15pm on the corner of Ferry Rd and Ensors Rd in Woolston.
A police spokeswoman said police were asked to hurry by ambulance officers due to concerns there could be a fit between occupants of the vehicles.
People became "agitated" at the scene as ambulance crews were treating patients said a St John's spokesman.
"The situation was a wee bit tense...so we requested police urgently."
