Fifty medals for Marlborough's 150th

Fifty Marlborough men and women will be awarded a medal to commemorate the region's 150th birthday.

All recipients have made an outstanding contribution to Marlborough in their particular field, said Deputy Mayor Jenny Andrews.

"At 150 years old we're 50 years on from our first big birthday and 50 years away from the next one. So we settled on 50 as an appropriate number of awards to make," Mrs Andrews said.

The Marlborough Commemorative Medals will be handed out at a function in Blenheim tomorrow afternoon.
