Fifteen fire engines have been called to a factory fire at Hellers' sausage factory in Wiri, South Auckland.
A Fire Service spokesman said the blaze has damaged machinery but the factory escaped significant damage. The fire is now out.
He said the Fire Service was called at 5.14am today after the fire started at the rear of the factory, in Ha Cres, off Roscommon Rd.
"We got there within four minutes. We have still 15 appliances there," the spokesman said.
He said people were working in the factory at the time but no one was injured. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
