A field of thousands of Anzac poppies has been planted on Auckland's waterfront to boost awareness of Poppy Day.
Westpac brand manager Bec Reynolds says a team of 11 started planting the poppies in the field from 4am.
She says about 12,500 poppies were used in the display, which was completed just after 6am.
Ms Reynolds says there had been a positive response to the poppies, with many people taking photos and one woman commenting she almost cried upon seeing the display.
"It is gathering a whole load of donations too, which is the point."
