KEY POINTS:
Former Labour MP Taito Phillip Field has used Parliament to hit out at another of his tormentors - National MP Lockwood Smith.
Dr Smith has put more than 400 questions to Immigration Minister David Cunliffe on the Field affair.
Back in Parliament as an independent MP, Mr Field told MPs he took offence at Dr Smith's 17-month campaign of making allegations by way of questions to ministers.
"I want to make it clear to him that a lot of the allegations he has made in this House are quite untrue ... and I invite the member if he has any scrap of evidence to back up the allegation he has been making," Mr Field said.
"He should come out of his closet and take those allegations outside this House."
Dr Smith continued to ask Mr Cunliffe how former immigration ministers could not have been aware of conflicts of interests in Mr Field's attempts to get visas for people.
Police are investigating Mr Field over claims he received cheap labour in exchange for immigration application assistance.
