Region-wide creative festival Kokomai was officially launched last week with the announcement of three acts already lined up for the 2013 festival.
Around 120 people gathered at Carterton Events Centre for a taste of the music, visual arts, film, dance and literature on offer in October next year.
Texan comedian Wilson Dixon, Nelson Arts Festival hit play Party with the Aunties, and the award-winning play I, George Nepia have been confirmed for the festival.
This year's theme is "flight of the imagination", and "kokomai", meaning to ascend or rise, ties in with it.
Kokomai Trust chairman James Smallwood said the festival team was working closely with existing arts groups and events in the region and Kokomai would provide a platform to showcase the diverse artistic talents of people in the region.
