Cold rain and colder southerlies were not enough to dampen the spirits of thousands of Toast Martinborough punters yesterday.
A stormy morning gave way to sunshine by midday, allowing around 10,000 festival-goers to make the most of the wine, food and music on offer from 10 different vineyards.
Aucklanders Ray Wiggins, Bill MacKenzie and Brian Bailey were attending the festival for the fifth time, and said the weather was not going to put them off.
"It's been windier, but this is the coldest," Mr MacKenzie said.
Masterton's Allan and Jan Williams were attending for the first time with Marton couple Richard and Chris Ellery, and came prepared with large umbrellas - which, Mr Ellery assured us, would become sun shades later on.
