South End School in Carterton will throw a spotlight on the diversity of its community at its third triennial cultural festival.
Tina Rahui, school te reo Maori tutor and teacher aide, said the festival would be held on Friday and would focus on the wealth of ethnic difference at the school, which has a student, teacher and community population representing 14 countries across the globe.
The festival will be opened with entertainment and will includeperformances ranging from kapa haka to a Scottish piper.
"We're really quite diverse and we're looking forward to a great day teaching our children a lot about the different peoples of the world."
Mrs Rahui said Carterton Mayor John Booth had been invited to open the festival and other guests would include Carterton councillors who were also on the invitation list, a representative of former mayor and NZ First list MP Ron Mark, who lives in the town, and representatives from Idea Services.
