Two people were rescued today after their inflatable canoe was blown out to sea from Cockle Bay in east Auckland.
An Auckland Coastguard spokeswoman said the man and woman, aged in their 20s, rang police on a cellphone shortly after midday when strong winds blew them offshore and prevented them from paddling back.
The police launch Deodar and coastguard were dispatched, but the pair were picked up uninjured by the Pine Harbour Ferry and returned to land.
