Three occupants of a small runabout which almost collided with a ferry in the Marlborough Sounds on Saturday have been arrested.
Police said the boat crossed into the path of the Aratere in Queen Charlotte Sound about 8.30am, forcing the ferry crew to take evasive action. It then circled the ferry while the occupants yelled abuse.
Police and the harbourmaster located the trio in Endeavour Inlet and found they were intoxicated.
