KEY POINTS:
Millions of dollars' worth of fast cars assembled in Karaka yesterday to celebrate a milestone for an Italian legend.
After travelling in convoy from Newmarket, 76 Ferraris gathered on Eric Watson's polo ground to mark the 60th year since the marque was founded by Enzo Ferrari.
The Ferrari Owners' Club Auckland area chairman, Lionel Rogers, said it took about 45 minutes to get the vehicles in place and estimated the total value of the cars making the sign was $25 million.
He said the oldest was a 1967 275 GTB4 - "quite rare, very sought-after, very expensive and this one was immaculate".
There are about 450 Ferraris in the country - and three of the rarest were among those at Karaka.
The rare limited edition "super cars" at the event included the only 288 GTO here and an F-40, issued for the 40th anniversary, of which there are two in the country.
The serif on the F of Ferrari in the picture is Mr Rogers' Enzo - his pride and joy, which he took delivery of from the factory floor in 2003.
It is the only one in the nation.
And the colour of Mr Rogers' Enzo? "It's red. Of course."
