The owner of a Ferrari snapped while parked in a mobility parking spot says he has a good reason for leaving it there - but won't say what it is.
Paul Willoughby owns the two-seat, 2004 Ferrari 360 Spider convertible photographed in the space at Albany's Westfield mall.
The man who took the photo said the car was parked for over half an hour and had no permit.
When the Herald on Sunday visited Willoughby's business on Auckland's North Shore yesterday, the car was outside but there was no sign of a mobility space permit.
He said he could justify the activity recorded in the photo but didn't think it was a good idea. "Fifty per cent of the readers won't believe what I say so it doesn't really matter."
CCS Disability Action national development manager Peter Wilson said he didn't know the specifics of the case but the rules were "pretty clear" on improper parking in mobility spaces.
"Unless it's an absolute emergency I can't think of any other reason."
