Ferrari has revealed a lighter and more powerful version of its entry-level California coupe-convertible, first deliveries of which are expected in New Zealand by the end of this year.
The California, which will be available with an optional "Handling Speciale" package, brings an upgraded version of its direct-injection 4.3-litre V8 that now delivers 365kW (up 27kW from 338kW) and 505Nm of torque (up 20Nm from 485Nm).
Combined with a 30kg weight cut, which should reduce the convertible's kerb weight to 1705kg, the California now sprints to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds - two-tenths of a second quicker than the present car and using the same seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission.
The figures are the result of new exhaust manifolds and revised engine mapping.
Subtle styling revisions for the four-seat California include a new chromed grille treatment and a fresh range of two-tone paint colour schemes.
