A ferocious and unprovoked attack has shocked diners at a Hamilton Burger King.
A man was having lunch with his wife at the Ward St fast food restaurant yesterday, when he was suddenly set upon by another male diner.
Detective Sergeant Dave Grace says the victim was left with lacerations to his head and a wound to his neck. He says the man required stitches.
"The restaurant was busy with people there for lunch. And the police have spoken with those witnesses."
Mr Grace is urging anyone who may have seen the offender after he fled with a female companion, to come forward.
The attacker is described as Maori or Polynesian, aged between 20 and 30, of medium build and wearing a dark coloured hat.
